Visa Innovation Center Singapore: Revolutionizing the Future of Commerce

An Immersive Showcase of Innovation

The Visa Innovation Center Singapore is a groundbreaking space where Visa and its partners collaborate to shape the future of commerce. This unique center combines immersive digital solutions with physical design to create a holistic visitor experience. At the heart of it all is the Visa Carousel, a remote-controlled showcase that demonstrates the possibilities of future payment transactions.

Through human-centered design, Visa uncovers new collaboration opportunities that enable clients to adapt to an evolving payment ecosystem. The revolving carousel became a metaphor for how commerce is experienced today - constantly happening across different form factors, situations, and platforms, yet simple, safe, and seamless to enjoy.

The Visa Innovation Center Singapore spans approximately 640 square meters and features an integrated co-creation environment with an exhibition zone, work zone, meeting zone, and cafeteria. The design goes beyond typical spatial layout, materials, and finishing, taking into consideration messaging, safety, buildability, user-friendliness, cost, and mixed use of space.

The centerpiece of the center is the Visa Carousel, a 360-degree rotatable showcase that contains three distinctive day-to-day scenes - home, retail, and transport. Each scene demonstrates how payment transactions might occur in the future, showcasing built-in technologies that envision the possibilities of future payment experiences.

The carousel is supported by a slip ring signal and power transmission system, providing power to all the electric equipment within. It is stabilized by a 4-meter diameter metal hollow section and equipped with three main big industrial casters and forty small casters. This ensures the stability of the 500kg interior fitting.

One of the standout features of the Visa Innovation Center Singapore is the Magic Mirror. This innovative technology enables the capture of real metrics around customer behavior, sales associate efficiencies, and merchandise productivity from within the fitting room. It enhances the overall visitor experience and provides valuable insights for Visa and its partners.

The design team behind the Visa Innovation Center Singapore includes Kevin He as the Creative Director, Charles Cheok as the Digital Engagement Director, and Desmond Loh as the Art Director, all from Kong Studio. They worked closely with the Visa Innovation Center Singapore team, including Chris Boncimino as the SVP, Mathieu Altwegg as the VP, Angie Low as the Senior Director, and Klas Hesselman as the Senior Director.

The Visa Innovation Center Singapore project started in June 2018 and was completed in January 2019. Throughout the design process, the team conducted extensive research, combining quantitative and qualitative methods. They aimed to create a distinct and lasting impression on busy business executives, ensuring high visitor engagement and a wow-factor experience.

The Visa Innovation Center Singapore has received recognition for its exceptional design. It was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2019 in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category. This prestigious award is given to well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements. The center's design integrates industry best practices and competent technical characteristics, contributing to a better world.

The Visa Innovation Center Singapore is not just a physical space; it is a gateway to the future of commerce in the Asia Pacific region. It brings together Visa, its partners, and visitors to discover, design, and develop innovative solutions that will shape the way we experience commerce in the years to come.
